Decision Making
All of us have to make decisions every day. Some decisions are relatively straightforward and simple, but some are difficult. On our March 7 class we had a crazy and drastic activity on decision making. In fact, I think I didn’t learn anything about how to make decision, but a negative example. First there was one “leader” tried to start voting and write down some opinions, then more and more “leader” pop up because they had very strong opinions and wanted to be heard. After all the class become chaos until we were told only 15 minutes remain. people act when they run into a decision making conflict; 1.Compete to Win, 2. Avoidance, 3. Compromise, 4. Accommodation, 5. Collaboration. I used the Avoidance method because at that time there were more enough compete to win already. Over all I believe the collaboration method would work the best in the situation. We all have equal power to say , so it was hard to pick a real leader that make the process in order, smooth and easy. We should we could have split into groups, then collect all opinions from each group. Write down some common opinions and vote for the rest.

You are right with the point that it was too many "leaders". The main problem was that they all wanted to have something specific to be accepted for the next exam. So, I saw them as not people who were leading to something, but as people who were "brave" enough to say out loud what they really wanted. They wanted to be heard that was why they stepped out to the front of our big class.
回复删除So far, I saw that a lot of people chose Avoidance to go through decision on their blogs. I took Avoidance too because I felt the same like what you thought. People chose to stay silence somehow because they didn’t want to argue with Compete to win people. They knew the Compete to win people had a strong statement on what they want, so they gave up and hoped some other Compete to win guys who had same interest fought for them.
回复删除I agree with you and Ken, i took Avoidance too because just like what ken says we chose to stay silence because we really don't want to argue with compete to win students. we all have right to say what we want but that will not work. And i think we should get to the small group then each group have their own decided, and we put all results together see which one is the best, i think that will be more easy to have too many "leader" infront there.
